Infrared tulips

B&W Digital,Photographs — Jordan on May 4, 2008

I took this infrared image Nikon D70s with a 55mm f/3.5 Micro-Nikkor manual-focus lens fitted with a Hoya R72 filter. I framed the composition before putting on the filter (which is opaque to normal illumination).

Digital IR macro is not easy — apertures are small and shutter speeds are slow, which makes it tough to freeze wind-induced motion. This picture was taken with the camera set to ISO 1600, f/11 (or so) and 1/25-s shutter speed.
