King Street East 4

Overhead power and telephone lines are everywhere in downtown Toronto. You can either never look up when shooting, or you can try to work them into your compositions. I usually go for the latter. This was taken on our King Street East walk last week, at the corner of Jarvis St. Yashicamat 124 with orange filter, Ilford Pan F Plus film, developed in PC-Gly-TOL (see my articles page under “Easy film developers”).

Agreed…nice use of strong straight lines, and the conflict of the curved light pole. Nice. — posted by leeroy on April 4, 2006 3:15am
You’ve done a great job of incorporation the lines into this shot. I like the way you’ve angled the shot and the use of crisp, sharp b&w! — posted by Sinem on April 4, 2006 3:26am
Now this is a really great photo. I love the tones and perspective. I might be just a little jealous. :o ) Great job on this pic. — posted by Matthew George on April 4, 2006 8:34am
Before I read your comments on the shot, I was going to say how much I like what the power lines added to the photo. Mission accomplished, you made them work. — posted by micki on April 4, 2006 1:27pm
