Misión San Francisco Solano, Sonoma, Cal.

Colour Film,Photographs — Jordan on October 25, 2007

Misión San Francisco Solano was the northernmost in the chain of missions built during the colonial period throughout “the Californias” (Baja and Alta California). This mission (which now lies in the centre of Sonoma, Cal.) was completed in the 1820s. It’s amazing to think of Jesuits (or were they Franciscans?) building missions in California long after the last of the Napoleonic Wars.

I took this with the Rolleiflex 3.5E on expired Velvia RVP slide film.

Autumn comes a couple of weeks earlier in Montreal than it does here in Toronto.
